Description & Usage historiqueDescription & Historical Use
Cartridge introduced by Holland & Holland as the .375 Belted Rimless Nitro Express, in response to the success of the 9.3x62 Mauser in Africa and India; it was one of the first belted cartridges, the belt providing headspace for a sharply tapered case. It gave rise to the .300 H&H and, with it, served as the basis for almost every popular belted magnum; several African countries set .375 as the minimum legal calibre for hunting thick-skinned dangerous game.
